The first edition of EDIT NAPOLI will be presented in the Naples historical city center, Complesso di San Domenico Maggiore, a fascinating monument that proudly holds eight centuries of history, art, culture and religion.
The innovative fair, designed to support and promote independent designers, will showcase well-know names, younger designers and established producers.
Filling a void in the market, Domitilla Dardi – senior design curator at Maxxi Museum – and director Emilia Petruccelli have selected more than 50 exhibitors for an exclusive showing, stimulating original collaborations between producers and designers.

The fair will focus on designer-makers who bypass industry norms by striking an independent path encompassing all aspects of design from conception and fabrication to branding and distribution. International designers and manufacturers will exhibit pieces conceived exclusively for EDIT NAPOLI.

YouNique – Excellent Craftmanship is the exhibition-event dedicated to high artistic crafts, conceived and curated by YouNique Experience under the direction of Andrea Peri and the advice of Anty Pansera, housed in the neoclassical rooms of Villa Ciani, a fascinating nineteenth-century residence overlooking the Lago Ceresio in the heart of Lugano.

Many of our pieces will be exhibited in room 16, at the first floor, where you can also meet us, and some other pieces will be exhibited at the ground floor, by Les Ambassadeurs, the leading house of the leading names.

The curatorial theme of the 2018 edition of DESIGN.VE is “Design After Darwin. Adapted to Adaptability”. The theme aims to showcase design’s ability to be receptive to alternative uses as the function multiplies and stratifies, contrary to a notion of any singular predetermined use. In a society where functions continuously evolve, design becomes an active component in the transformation of everyday life, capable of simultaneously reinventing the pre-existing imaginings of the past and interacting with the unpredictable paths of the future.
Within this are few concepts through which to interpret and comprehend the works, each proposing alternative approaches to design and establishing diverse forms of interaction between object and user:

alcarol use Transfiguration: Objects that are designed to satisfy a specific function, but that incorporate materials and or forms illustrating an investment in an aesthetic transfiguration and therefore elevating the object to a piece of consistently adaptable design based on its visual beauty.

Mint has curated a selection of contemporary, collectable objects that range from experimental works by established designers and new talents pushing the boundaries of what craft and design can be to special commissions in the fields of furniture, lighting, ceramics and glassware design.

A strong emphasis is given to projects that embrace sustainable materials and methods, without compromising poetic, timeless and playful outcomes.

From October, 4th alcarol will be one of the 8 protagonist of Design Supermarket, a space devoted to design on the basement floor of the La Rinascente  which in 1954 established “Compasso d’Oro” – the oldest and most influential international design award – and that always works with the best architects, designers and artists of the time.

La Rinascente has selected 8 emerging designers taking part in SaloneSatellite 2016 and will display their projects from Autumn to Christmas 2016.
