Quartet

quartet1

Quartet is composed by four segments of Venetian bricola, held together by oxidised steel tape and framed by a special extra-clear tempered glass that functions as table-top and grants enjoyment of the bricolas as if they were still submerged in the Laguna’s water, thus re-evoking their previous, romantic existence. The special sawing in quarters of the bricola preserves the outer surface, retaining the exclusive underwater sculpture, fruit of many years’ work by the shipworms (Teredini Marine).  This type of sawing also reveals the intimate virginal beauty of the most inner timber, which has remained healthy and strong as if it’d just been felled, despite the highly visible number of disparate tunnels marking the outer layer of the log and constituting the traces of the life of these indefatigable lagoon molluscs.
